Ingredients
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
4 slices Swiss cheese
1 tbsp butter
4 slices sourdough or rye bread
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
1 tbsp oil for grilling
2 tbsp mayo or garlic aioli
1 tsp salt & black pepper
Instructions
Heat butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and tender. Remove from skillet and set aside.
In a bowl, combine ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Form patties slightly larger than your bread slices.
Using the same skillet, cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
Spread mayo or garlic aioli on one side of each bread slice. Layer Swiss cheese on each slice, place beef patty, and top with sautéed mushrooms.
Heat oil in skillet over medium heat. Place sandwich in skillet and grill each side for 2-3 minutes until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
Slice sandwich in half and serve immediately.
Notes
For an extra twist, try adding caramelized onions or a fried egg. You can prepare the patties and mushrooms ahead of time and store them separately in the fridge. When ready, assemble and grill fresh for the best flavor and texture.
