Description
This creamy Asiago chicken recipe features juicy, oven-baked chicken breasts smothered in a rich, cheesy Asiago sauce with herbs and garlic. It’s easy, comforting, and perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prep.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
½ cup grated Asiago cheese
½ cup light mayonnaise
¼ cup low-fat plain Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
¼ cup low-sodium chicken broth
1½ teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Pinch ground nutmeg
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon aged balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons grated Asiago cheese (for topping)
Fresh chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish
Pound chicken breasts to even thickness if needed and place them in the prepared dish
In a medium bowl, whisk together Asiago cheese, mayonnaise, yogurt, chicken broth, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, nutmeg, and pepper
Pour the creamy mixture evenly over the chicken
Bake uncovered for 40–50 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F
Top with additional Asiago cheese and drizzle with balsamic vinegar
Optional: broil for 2–3 minutes for a golden, bubbly top
Garnish with parsley and serve immediately
Notes
Double the sauce to serve over pasta or rice
Searing the chicken before baking adds extra flavor and locks in moisture
Sour cream can be used in place of Greek yogurt
Let the chicken rest 5–10 minutes after baking to help the sauce thicken
Pairs well with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or roasted zucchini
