Creamy, comforting, and quick, this chicken with buttered noodles recipe features juicy pan-seared chicken atop garlic butter-coated noodles for a family-friendly weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
8 oz egg noodles
3 tbsp unsalted butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tbsp chopped parsley (plus more for garnish)
1 tsp salt, or to taste
½ tsp black pepper
¼ cup reserved pasta water or chicken broth
Optional: grated Parmesan, lemon zest, red pepper flakes
Instructions
Cook the noodles in salted boiling water according to package instructions. Reserve ¼ cup of pasta water and drain.
Season chicken with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
Heat 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken for 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and let rest.
In the same skillet, melt remaining butter. Add garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
Slice the cooked chicken.
Return noodles to the skillet, add reserved pasta water, and toss to coat in the butter sauce.
Add sliced chicken on top, garnish with parsley and optional Parmesan. Serve hot.
Notes
Use rotisserie chicken for a quicker meal.
Add steamed broccoli or spinach to boost nutrition.
Substitute egg noodles with fettuccine or linguine if needed.
